REMEMBERING #NFF2001 SCREENWRITERS TRIBUTE HONOREE WALTER BERNSTEIN

Dear Friends,

We want to acknowledge the passing of the celebrated screenwriter and 2001 Nantucket Film Festival Screenwriters Tribute honoree Walter Bernstein. Mr. Bernstein was a prolific writer, with screenplays including The Molly Maguires and Fail Safe. After he was blacklisted in the 1950s, he was forced to work under a pseudonym, an experience that influenced his Academy Award-nominated film The Front. Mr. Bernstein was an inspiring presence when he joined us on Nantucket in 2001 to be honored for his body of work.

The New York Times memorialized Walter Bernstein's life and career in this retrospective

Our thoughts are with Mr. Bernstein's wife, Gloria Loomis.

Sincerely,

Mystelle, Basil, Jaclyn, Beth, Megan, and Anita

Nantucket Film Festival mourns the loss of cherished Nantucketer Jerry Stiller

NFF20_Jerry2Artboard 1-01.png

Jerry's wisdom, humor, wit, and most importantly, his deep appreciation of the arts made him a beloved friend of the Festival.  Jerry was a valued and valuable Board member and he graced the stages of the Festival, with his beloved Anne, countless times.

Simply put, the Nantucket Film Festival would not be here today were it not for the talents of this extraordinary man.

We send our condolences to Amy, Ben, and the entire Stiller family.
