Affluent alcoholic David Henninger (Ralph Fiennes) speeds through the Moroccan desert at night on his way to a party at a lavish villa with his disdainful younger wife, Jo (Jessica Chastain). Lost and frustrated, David drunkenly runs down a teenage boy on the side of the road. The dinner is well underway when the couple arrive with blood on their hands and the dead boy in their trunk, but once the police are paid off, they join the revelry. When Abdellah (Ismael Kanater) arrives to collect his only son’s body, he seeks justice. A resigned David accompanies Abdellah back to his village while Jo remains at the villa; the party must go on.
