As part of our commitment to youth education, we’re rolling out the red carpet for the student filmmakers!
During the Festival, we present all the short films that are produced by the Nantucket High School students participating in our Teen View Labs. This exhibition of the work they wrote, directed, produced, and edited is a mix of narrative and documentary films. Students have the opportunity to show their work to a Festival audience, complete with a Q&A following the screening. Nantucket High School students participating in NFF’s Teen View Labs with NCTV have an opportunity to develop the basic skills required to write, shoot, and edit documentary and narrative films. Students spend the late winter and spring in the labs creating films from four to six minutes long. The films are then analyzed and critiqued by their peers, and the students’ finished products have their world premiere screenings during NFF.

Teen View Jury
A group of Nantucket seventh and eighth graders are selected to form a jury with the goal of picking the best short film at the Festival. The middle school students screen, deliberate, debate, and judge each film and in the process learn the fundamentals of critical film analysis. At the end of the Festival, the jury presents the Short Film Award to the film that rises above the rest.
