Inspired by James Morosini’s true life experience. After Franklin’s (James Morosini) suicide attempt, his worried mother, Diane (Amy Landecker), hopes to keep her son’s stress to a minimum. Meanwhile, his father, Chuck (Patton Oswalt), has estranged himself over the course of several years. Tired of his father’s broken promises and excuses, Franklin cuts off contact completely. Heartbroken and fearful for his son’s welfare, Chuck uses the profile of a pretty waitress named Becca who works at a local diner to rebuild a connection with his son over social media. Predictably, Franklin falls hard for Becca and wants nothing more than to meet her in person and soon, Chuck is enlisted to drive his son to meet a girl who doesn’t exist.
