When Sara (Juliette Binoche) spies her ex-lover François (Grégoire Colin) on a busy street corner, she is surprised by the depth of her reignited feelings, even more so when he calls seemingly out of the blue to reconnect with Jean (Vincent London) on a business endeavor. Sara left François for Jean on an impulse a decade ago, and his reemergence destabilizes Sara and Jean’s relationship as each must reckon with their past and their way forward. An astute observer of the textures and sensory experiences that punctuate romantic relationships, legendary French auteur Claire Denis delivers another mature and vivid drama about the shifting shape of desire.
